Yosemite National Park - 2009

We had never heard of Yosemite until Denise's dad, John, gave her a beautiful cross stitch of Yosemite Falls. Since then we just had to visit, and boy was it worth it.
Yosemite National Park is a United States National Park spanning eastern portions of Tuolumne, Mariposa and Madera counties in east central California. The park covers an area of 761,268 acres and reaches across the western slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountain chain. Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year and like us spend most of their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. It was designated a World Heritage Site in 1984. You cant help but appreciate the spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams and Giant Sequoia groves. Yosemite was central to the development of the national park idea in the U.S.A. largely owing to the work of people like Galen Clark and John Muir.
